Wow what a month, hectic and busy editing, but, what a great experience.
Yes, we had the pleasure of going to shoot with the Welsh ballet company 'Ballet Cymru' they are and arts council funded company and are currently on the road with Beauty and the Beast, next year they take the brothers Grimm's version of Cinderella on the road, and thats were we come in.
We approached them looking for the opportunity to work with some dancers, whereas they thought perhaps we might like a pop at doing their art work for next years Cinderella poster, well we couldn't say no.
I have always wanted to work with some dancers, especially Ballet as the grace, dedication and moves are simply breathtaking. Its fair to say that the experience meet with my dreams. Such a fab day.
we decided to shoot with two side lights gridded soft-boxes with the occasional third light for fill or adding hair lights. the D700 was set up on a tripod to keep things simple for all, focusing on a predetermined 'flight path' of the dancer. we tethered the camera to a laptop we borrowed so the company and ourselves could inspect each jump and check for those all important details that decide on a good image or poor image, little sticky out fingers and of course straight legs!!!
The results have been really exciting, we have worked on a variety of different styles for the composited pieces going for a stage performance style background on most, as well as some straight jump edits keeping it all clean and about the light and dancer.
Just wish we could share, but you will have to wait for that :)
